You the American citizen, on what basis should you be charged with a crime? Tell me the truth. This seems like an obvious answer, one that everyone in America would be able to answer. A person should be tried and convicted of a crime if the conviction of that crime advances the well being of those who charged you with the crime. After all, what is taught in schools today is truth is relative. It is an abstract. What is true for you, may not be true for me. The truth is, if I, as a prosecutor, have a 98% conviction rate, then I will be promoted to the top of the dept. The end justifies the means and if you can't prove anything different, than why not charge you with the crime?
If I say that your witness says, "he doesn't recall", is that the same as saying your witness said, "no, that never happened?" Are those different?
To you and I, of course those are different, one is the "truth" and one is a lie, sorry fake news.
But if I believe that as long as you can't prove the witness said it never happened, I will be promoted and after all, it is survival of the fittest and I am going to survive way better than you when you end up in prison!
What if I have the power to tell everyone involved that if they testify on your behalf, I will charge them with the same crime I am charging you.
No one is allowed to have the records I have that says actually what the witness said. I hold the power to "summarize" what was said, rather than what the witness actually said. How can you prove anything? Isn't the truth what I say it is?
If I am a prosecutor that does not believe that anyone can hold me accountable because I hold all the evidence, what prevents me from charging you with any crime I say you committed? God? What if I don't believe He exists?
Now you see the problem. It is not a lie, if no one can prove it is different than what I say happened, if you do not fear God.
This why God told us to make sure we select men WHO FEAR GOD, MEN of TRUTH, those who HATE dishonest gain!
